Another farewell, another cake ..

This time it was my boss. We really don't want her to leave, but she is retiring, so we don't have a say in the matter.

Now, when Taldals first saw this, she started giggling uncontrollably.

It was her birthday yesterday. So I made her this for tomorrow at work

Last night, the family went out to dinner for my birthday. It was at a nice seafood buffet restaurant in the city.
I thought I knew everyone who was coming. But naturally, we had a gatecrasher.

That photo was taken after he'd been attacked and subdued. I'm sure I'll have plenty more pictures of him trying to take over my house.

At the end of dinner, the birthday cake was brought out and everyone (including total strangers) started singing. There was no where to hide - even the dalek abandoned me as a good place to hide!

So much for the diet! (Which, of course, was dutifully abandoned for the night) The cake is chocolate, covered in chocolate ganache (read chocolate + butter) , dark chocolate, strawberries and ferrero rocher.

Well, I did ask for chocolate cake!

Lately, I keep getting asked to bring the cake.

Do any of you remember a cake I made a few months back? Well I think it set a dangerous precedent.

We are having another lunch at work tomorrow in honour of the boss' 60th birthday. This again involves us bringing in a plate.

I pretty much got volunteered to do the cake.

So here is today's effort, with help from Janet_Mayfire and Taldals

We had a farewell at work today.

 DentArthurDent decide to leave us for greener pastures (read Public Service) after 4 years or so. He was fairly well liked so lots of people attended and contributed.

I decided to make a cake, which is where the story starts.

DentArthurDent takes himself for a bit of a music enthusiast and guitar legend. So, one of us decided a guitar cake would be a good idea. Jedi Master (another guitar legend) decided that the perfect guitar would be a Rickenbacker (don't ask me , I have no clue).

The first reaction was, "Do I have to

cut it?", which I usually take as a goodsign.
